We grow vines, olives, and wheat in Abruzzo
We chose to name the company “Le Prunaie” after the “Pruni”: wild fruit brambles that have always been part of the Abruzzo agricultural landscape, sometimes protecting, sometimes separating agricultural properties. They act as a natural support and boundary serving nature itself. Our land was rich in "pruni", almost as if they wanted to safeguard something precious, to protect it. We decided to take care of this land, promising to be faithful to it. In honor of the "Pruni" that defended it for many years, Le Prunaie was born.
Where wisdom and progress meet
We chose to make the most of what we had, what our family was able to express thanks to the tradition of the territory: the production of great grapes.
Our farm is located within a property in Abruzzo, more precisely in Catignano, in the province of Pescara, a few kilometers from the coast and only a few more from Maiella and Gran Sasso. Here, in Varano, we work our vineyards, pursuing a fairer, healthier agriculture that respects the environment and people.

The estate covers a total area of 90 hectares, 27 of which are vineyards.
The grape varieties present are the typical native Abruzzese ones, including Montepulciano, Pecorino, and Trebbiano, with the particularity of having introduced, for over 20 years, several different varieties such as Falanghina, Chardonnay, and Traminer, as well as a true unicum for the Abruzzo area: Malbec.
The protagonist of our production reality, Malbec is interpreted in this winery as the perfect balance between elegance and power of a grape variety.
The estate also boasts 4000 olive trees of various prestigious cultivars from which a very high-quality oil is produced. The olives are then processed directly in the internal olive mill.
Wine and oil, to which wheat is also added, cultivated according to organic protocols, allowing our agricultural company to produce the best raw material for Pastificio Zaccagni, owned by our family.
