"An area that has always been dedicated to olive cultivation”
An area that has always been dedicated to olive cultivation for mild climate and for the particular characteristics of the soil, suitable for the harmonious development of this plant.
Although the company was only established in 2003, it has already amalgamated around 60 hectares of agricultural land destined, as tradition dictates, for the cultivation of olives, vines and cereals.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil EVO 'Le Prunaie' is a extremely low acidity due to modern harvesting practices and careful control of olive health.
The richness of aromatic substances and the notable presence of antioxidant substances typical of the olive, give the extra virgin oil 'Le Prunaie' notes of bitter and spicy, harmonious and precious.
The olive grove and product care
The typical varieties of the area are: Dritta, Leccino, Frantoio, Cucco, Maurino e Moraiolo which are capable of giving the oil unmistakable aromas.
Recently, other varieties have joined the previous ones to allow more and more diversification of production.
The extra virgin olive oil from the 'Le Prunaie' farm comes from the careful cultivation of olive trees, the fruit of which is picked from the tree at the right stage of ripeness, they are molten within a few hoursin the company's modern two-stage continuous cycle millLe Prunaie' EVO extra virgin olive oil is exclusively obtained by milling only the olives produced on the farm.
The cultivation method of the olive groves is organic farmingwithout the use of synthetic fertilisers or insecticides, but using only natural principles permitted in organic farming.
High-density implantation
The planting, which is still present and in productivity, was created according to the Spanish technical guidelines with narrow planting patterns (4 x 2 metres) so as to develop a number of 1,500 plants. The varieties chosen were those that best corresponded to this model at the time, i.e. Arbequina ed Arbosana both from Spain, Koroneiki famous Greek variety, and the Italian FS17, Don Carlo e Giulia.
This olive grove represents a valuable and interesting interesting example of innovation in the field which keeps cultivation costs low while giving good productivity. The presence of varieties such as Koroneiki and Fs 17 also enhance the quality appreciation of the oils produced by this plant.
The characteristics
of our oil.
Here are the three types produced in the 2023 olive season
- Le Prunaie EVO Extra Virgin Olive Oil, is characterised by an intense green and fruity olive colour with hints of green almonds. Fairly spicy and bitter, it is tasty in the mouth with an aftertaste of thistle and artichoke. We recommend it for fresh vegetable preparations, country salads and grilled vegetables. Excellent on raw pasta and bruschetta bread. Also try it on seafood salads and boiled fish.
- Le Prunaie Evo Extra Virgin Olive Oil Monocultivar Cucco is characterised by herbaceous hints and notes of aromatic grass and almond . Extremely balanced in the mouth, it is appreciated for the harmonious presence of moderate pungency and bitterness. It is appreciated on sweet and light vegetable purees such as pumpkin, chickpeas, legumes, enhancing their aromaticity and especially their taste. It is also excellent on dairy products and ricotta cheese, in an intriguing way compared to the sweet note of milk.
- Le Prunaie Evo Extra Virgin Olive Oil CRU represents a pleasantly savoury oil with a definite presence of phenolic substances that characterise a bitter and spicy oil. It goes well with robust passata, lentils or Tuscan soups. Excellent with boiled potatoes but also al coppo. Also try it on boiled and stewed meat. It goes well with roast fish, harmonising for example a roast of salt cod and peppers typical of Abruzzo tradition.
